WELCOME

Welcome to the Sheffield 40s Walking Group website.

Where happiness is a warm scone.

The group was founded in the summer of 2007 by some of the <ahem> older members of the Sheffield 20s and 30s group and with the full support of the Ramblers Association who generously stumped up some cash to get us going. When we started it, we had no idea quite how big it was going to become; we are now a year old and have over 85 paid-up members.

We still maintain strong links with our sister organization and many people go on walks organised by the 20s/30s group, us and indeed the Sheffield Ramblers ‘proper’.

From the outset we wanted the group to be web-based and as close to paper-free as is currently possible. This website is the best place to find everything you need to know about our group and should have answers to most questions that you have. It has details of all the walks, socials, weekends away and associated events organised by us, as well as links to other Ramblers groups. In addition, we have a message board where our members can organise their own nights out, cinema trips or even sell their used walking gear.

Our walks programme is updated approximately every quarter and members are kept up to date via fortnightly email updates or by looking at our website.  The autumn programme is out now.

At the end of our first year we have about 85 members (yikes!) and we run walks every weekend as well as regular weekends away, meals out and pub nights. If you want to see what we're like, click on the Galleries pages and you can see photos of all the larking about! But don't let that put you off!

See you on a walk soon....

The website should answer any questions you have, but if not please feel free to contact us at:
