| Description | Park at Birchen Clough car park, we then take the Roman Road through the trees to Blackden View Farm, cross at Alport Bridge and then a climb up to Blackden Edge. We'll follow the path all along the edge until the junction of the Pennine Way, and return via the River Ashop and Ashop Clough (likely to be wet and muddy so good boots and gaiters recommended) and finally up through the trees to the car park. |

A few steep climbs and descents, sometimes rough underfoot, but large part of the walk is along the edge on a good path. Nearest pub after the walk is the Snake Inn. They do serve decent real ale for those aficionados! Dogs on leads please. |
