| Description | A classic walk through Chatsworth Park grounds where we can admire the 1760's work of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and others as well as the River Derwent, the Historic House and various animals - both wild and farmed. Baslow - Endsor - Carlton Lees - Beeley Lodge - Hunting Tower - Chatsworth Park - Baslow There are two main long ascents and descents plus undulations!. The ground can be rough and slippery particularly if it is wet or icy. It is likely to be muddy in places. Route may vary depending on conditions. Please text earlier in the week rather than later to ensure optimum planning by leaders. To ensure the enjoyment of participants, numbers will be limited to c 20. This walk is best suited to experienced walkers. Whilst you are welcome to join the walk, please let me know when texting if you are not currently a Ramblers member. Please ensure you are ready booted and equipped to start walking at the specified time. Walk Leaders will not wait. Toilets near beginning of the walk and possibly en-route. Refreshments available in Baslow at the end of the walk. TM Travel Bus 218 every 30 minutes from Sheffield stops at Nether End. It would be helpful to know when you text if you are catching the bus. Dogs -well behaved dogs kept on short fixed (not flexible) leads held by considerate owners welcome. There are young animals and birds in the countryside at this time of year. Owners should follow the Law and Countryside code. Please let me know if you are bringing a dog. There are some tall stiles on this walk which some (larger) dogs may struggle with. |
