Walk Name Magpie Mine and Ashford Wells
Description A spring walk across the fields and meadows of the white peak with great views, taking us over the hills and through the dales around the River Wye. We see the remains of Magpie mine and visit the lovely Peak District villages of Sheldon and Ashford in the Water. We will stop in Ashford in the Water to view the 2016 well dressings and there is also a flower festival in the church.
Monsal Head - Headstone viaduct- Brushfield Hough - White Lodge - Sheldon - Magpie Mine-- Ashford in the Water - Churchdale Farm - Great Longstone - Little Longstone - Monsal Head.
A couple of steep ascents and descents but all worth it for the views! The ground can be rough, muddy and slippery in places, particularly if wet. Note: Route may vary depending on weather conditions. Please check message board (http://s40wg.proboards.com/) for any late changes due to conditions.

Additional Information Monsal Head long stay car park is a pay and display but if you arrive early enough you can normally park free on the road (Butts Road) to Little Longstone

Well behaved dogs kept on short fixed leads held by considerate owners welcome. There are young animals and birds in the countryside at this time of year. Owners should follow the Law and Countryside code.
