| Description | A walk through some classic countryside close to Sheffield around Grindleford, Hathersage Moor and the Longshaw Estate. Longshaw - White Edge Moor - Haywood - Grindleford - Upper Padley - Bole Hill - Winyards Nick - Over Owler Tor - Mother Cap - Granby Wood - Sheffield Plantation - Longshaw Lodge. There are steep descents and ascents but worth it for the views! The ground can be rough, muddy and slippery in places, particularly if wet. Note: Route may vary depending on weather conditions. Please check message board (http://s40wg.proboards.com/) for any late changes due to conditions. |

| Additional Information | Please allow sufficient time to be at the start point (NT Tea room) at the start time having walked following the signed paths either from where you park or the Fox House bus stop. You can park in either the National Trust Woodcroft car park (£4 fee payable by non-members) which is 50 yards from Fox House on B6055 or free in the limited public spaces near the Fox House Inn (on A6187). Please note that I will not acknowledge or respond to your text unless there is a problem. Please text earlier in the week rather than later to ensure optimum planning by leaders. To ensure the enjoyment of participants, numbers will be limited to c 20. Potential new members are welcome to join the walk. Please let me know when texting if you are not currently a Ramblers member. Please ensure you are ready booted and equipped to start walking at the specified time. Walk Leaders will not wait. Please let me know when you text if you are using public transport. Please use the Toilets (if you need them) near the Tea Room before the start time. Refreshments available at the Fox House Inn or Longshaw Tea Room at the end of the walk. Well behaved dogs kept on short fixed leads held by considerate owners welcome. There are young animals and birds in the countryside at this time of year. Owners should follow the Law and Countryside code. Please let me know if you are bringing a dog. |
