| Description | We leave the top car park in Winster and head down into the bottom of the village. After a short road section we will cross and head down into Clough Wood and along till we meet Oldfield Lane and head into the bottom of Darley Bridge. Here we pick up part of the Derwent Valley Heritage Way and follow it into Matlock Town. We'll be having a coffee stop in the gardens. From Matlock we head out and up a short but steep section of the Limestone Way, make sure to look back for the views over Matlock and the surrounding areas. We continue up but now it is more of a gentle walk. Once at the top it's down into the top end of Bonsall, we will have lunch here and time to visit a few wells. After lunch we head up The dale and past The Barley Mow pub made famous for it's chicken race which is the following weekend. We leave Bonsall via Horse Dale and head up to Blakemere Lane and then onto Blakelow Lane and cross Bonsall Moor via the Limestone Way. Then it's back to Winster passing under Luntor Rocks and head for the Miners Standard pub for a well earned pint. |
