| Walk Name | Eyam for Longstone Moor, Edges, Rakes and more (Nationwide Walking Festival Week) |
| Description | As we walk over the hills towards Longstone Edge and Moor we should get some lovely views: initially across to the Derwent Edges; then the Wye valley; and later, Eyam Edge as we pass through Longstone Moor and rolling white peak pastures (and a few stiles!)). Historical mining activity is much in evidence as we proceed. Back in Eyam the Wakes week activities will be reaching their climax with the carnival day parade and other activities. Eyam- Stoney Middleton - Deep Rake - High Rake - Longstone Edge - Longstone Moor - Housley - Eyam A couple of steep ascents and descents but worth it for the extensive views. The ground can be rough, muddy and slippery in places, particularly if wet. The vegetation may be high in places particularly where paths are not well used. Note: Route may vary depending on weather conditions. Please check message board (http://s40wg.proboards.com/) for any late changes due to conditions. |
