| Description | A walk where great views should reward us for our climbing effort as it takes us over the hills and through the dales around Monsal Head with classic White Peak scenery, spring flowers (eg early orchids etc) and wildlife. Monsal Head - Little Longstone - Longstone Moor - Housley -Stanley Lodge - Wardlow Mires - Cressbrook Dale - Monsal Head. There is a couple of steep ascents and descents but worth it for the views. The ground can be rough, muddy and slippery in places, particularly if wet. Note: Route may vary depending on weather conditions. Please check message board (http://s40wg.proboards.com/) for any late changes due to conditions. |

| Additional Information | Monsal Head long stay car park is a pay and display but if you arrive early enough you can park free on the road to Little Longstone. (Butts Road) Please note that I will not acknowledge or respond to your text unless there is a problem. Please text earlier in the week rather than later to ensure optimum planning by leaders. Please do not forget to include anything in your text which they should be aware of e.g. health (see also FAQ links under Important at top of calendar page). . To ensure the enjoyment of participants, numbers will be limited to c 20. Potential new members welcome (if experienced walkers). Please let me know in your text if you are not currently a Ramblers member. Please ensure you are ready booted and fully equipped to start walking at the specified time. Walk Leaders will not wait. Toilets at the beginning of the walk. Refreshments available at Little Longstone or Monsal Head at the end of the walk. Well behaved dogs kept on short fixed leads held by considerate owners welcome. There are young animals and birds in the countryside at this time of year. Owners should follow the Law and Countryside code. |
