| Walk Name | Curbar Round : Edges and More |
| Description | A walk with variety - river banks, woods, ancient sites, edges, hills and dales- ups and downs (and some flattish sections) with good views on a fine day not only from the Edges. From Curbar we walk towards Baslow, before heading up and along Baslow Edge. After crossing Curbar Gap we continue along Curbar Edge before dropping down steeply to the River Derwent at Froggatt. We cross the river and then head over the hill to Stony Middleton and (after steeply ascending) along the undulating valley-side back to Calver and the start. Curbar - Over End - Baslow Edge - Curbar Edge - Froggatt - Stoney Middleton - Calver - Calver Bridge A couple of steep ascents and steep descents but worth it for the views. Pace best suited to regular B walkers. The ground can be rough, muddy and slippery in places, particularly if wet so please wear adequate footwear. Whilst the walk affords fine views, the edges in particular can be exposed so please wear/carry suitable clothing for all conditions (even if the sun is shining when you leave home!). Note: Route may vary depending on weather conditions. Please check message board (http://s40wg.proboards.com/) for any late changes. |
