| Walk Name | Eyam & Foolow: Wells edges and moors |
| Description | Another walk with well dressings! Starting from picturesque Eyam ('village by water') we walk through rolling pastures towards Foolow. We then ascend to Hucklow Edge and follow the edge back towards Bretton before heading over purple heather clad Eyam Moor. We should get some spectacular views before we descend steeply back down to Eyam with its well dressing festivities taking place. Historical mining activity is much in evidence as we proceed! Eyam - Foolow - Great Hucklow - Bretton - Eyam Moor - Eyam A couple of steep ascents and descents but worth it for the views. The ground can be rough, muddy and slippery in places, particularly if wet. Some paths may be overgrown with bracken or other vegetation. Whilst the walk affords fine views, the edges and moors can be exposed so please wear/carry suitable clothing and footwear for all conditions. |
