Day Sunday
Date 08/04/2018
Start Time 10:00 am
Walk Name Alport Castles
Description A circular walk from Fairholmes to the 'castle in the clouds' in the lost valley of Alport, said to be the largest landslip in the UK. Breathtaking scenery and on a good day stunning views.

Leaving the car park we climb steeply through woodland and fields to a gently ascending good wide track which takes us eventually to Alport Castles Farm. We then climb VERY steeply and sharply across the ancient landslide debris to Alports 'castle in the clouds'.

A lunch stop, time to explore the 'castles' and it's then steadily downward across the moorland ridge on a paved footpath across Rowlee pasture which towards its end turns into softer ground. Finally a very sharp descent through woodland and back to the car park.
