| Walk Name | Dragon of Wantley & Walder's Low |
| Description | A short walk as summer ends, autumn comes closer and the nights draw in - attractive eh? This walk starts high and goes gently down for us to appreciate the very fine dry stonewall & wood statue of the Dragon of Wantley with beautiful views of the Upper Don Valley and Wharncliffe Chase, the site of the Dragon's Den. We then drop down to walk westward along More Hall reservoir, before we head up halfway to Ewden to seek the cairn of Walder's Low, reputed to be a Saxon chieftain's burial site. From this highest point of the walk we follow the paths and lanes down and back to our start. Actually it will be glorious weather and we will be walking in a golden, warm evening to encounter legends and friendship ... |
