| Walk Name | Evening walk of Waverley |
| Description | A short 4 mile walk to get the Easter weekend going. We will be on a new landscape which replaced Orgreave Coking Works (I even have an OS map with the whole area blank). There are gentle new hills to go up and down, new lakes (great birdwatching) to walk round and a redirected River Rother we can go and look at. Is this nature? Maybe not; there is a new and growing township on the plot and the ancient village of Treeton across the river. I am fascinated by this example of changing identities of these edgelands and the new landmarks that replace or erase the old. Added option: we can go and get a fish and chip supper at Whitby's in Cattercliffe after the walk. |
