| Description | A 12.5 mile walk that rambles from the Canal Basin along the Don to Attercliffe, over Bacon Lane to walk along the canal towpath and round the Arena to Tinsley Park. The route takes in a bit of the Sheffield Country Walk before we cross under the Parkway and through Catcliffe to walk along the Rother into Waverley and up to the Orgreave Colliery Memorial. Turning back towards Sheffield go through Bowden Housesteads Wood and Acres Hill. Skirting Woodbourn Stadium we pick up the canal and walk back along the towpath back to the Canal basin. THis walk takes in film locations, industrial archaeology, good graffiti, public art, bits of the TPT and Country Walk, both the Don and the Rother Valleys and finishes at the canal basin bar, The Dorothy Pax. I estimate we should finish about 4.30pm and I've booked two tables for 6, ie, for 12 of us - if we get that many! |
