| Description | Start at Redmires Plantation Car Park, walk round the reservoirs towards Lodge Moor, through the site of the WW1 army camp/WW2 PoW camp, north (past the pubs) to the edge and then back towards Wyming Brook and across Ash Cabin Flat to view a neolithic/bronze age stone circle, continuing past the site of an iron age fort and dropping down along the Rivelin before turning south to head back towards Redmires, past some standing stones, over Quarry Hill and “Hill 60” to get a close look at the archaeological remains of practice trenches dug during WW1, and then its a short return to the start. Choice of hostelries at the end. |
