Description Start at Ashford-in-the-Water we visit the church briefly to see a historic curiosity, then walk out of the top end of the village, proceed across fields, cross the Monsal Trail to reach Great Longstone church to view another historic feature, stopping for coffee break. Then leave the village onto Myers Lane and join the Monsal Trail for a short stretch. We then go right uphill and over to Bakewell, dropping downhill to cross ancient holme bridge, and proceed to the church for the lunch break and opportunity to
visit its fascinating ancient carved crosses. Bear up to St Anselm’s school and drop down through a woodland path, then walk alongside the river on return to Ashford-in-the-Water, with an option to rest and refresh at the Bull’s Head or Aisseford Tea
Room.
