| Description | After walking along Shelf Brook, we will turn left and start a steep ascent to James’s Thorn. We'll then continue across Shelf Moor to the trig point. From there, the footpath takes us to the crash site, where we will turn left onto the Pennine Way. Turning right, we’ll head toward Bleaklow Hill and continue to Bleaklow Stones. Next, we will turn left and begin our descent via Far Black Clough to reach Birchen Bank Wood. From the wood, we will head back up toward the centre of Bleaklow via Near Black Clough to rejoin the Pennine Way. Once we reach Clough Edge, we will turn left toward Cook Hill and its disused quarry, before finally returning to our starting point. |
