| Description | On this walk we enjoy the best of both worlds. Firstly, a pleasant stroll along the Derwent Valley followed by an invigorating walk along three of the finest gritstone edges of North East Derbyshire with breathtaking panoramas A picturesque walk along the river from our start point of Curbar takes us to Froggatt and then on to Grindleford where we enjoy a coffee stop in the grounds of St Helen’s Church with the opportunity to buy a delicious and reasonably priced cake from the community shop. We then walk through Haywood (avoiding the steep climb!) and make our way on to Froggatt Edge and then Curbar Edge for our lunch stop. From Curbar Gap its onto Baslow Edge where at the end we turn downhill and walk below the Edge before descending to Curbar and the Bridge Inn for well-deserved refreshments. The ground may be muddy and slippery in places so please wear/carry suitable clothing and footwear for all conditions.. |
