Route: We start by walking to Bamford mill, up to Thornhill and through the fields and along lanes towards Hope. Once we get to Edale end it’s a steep climb up to the roman road before we head up Win Hill to admire the views. Its a steady walk back down to Bamford.

Route: First walk of April 2023, lets make it a fun one. Head up the lane and onto Pillwell Lane, head South and onto Highstood Lane (Midshires Way), head for Pomeroy and the pub, cross fields to Pasture Barn, cross fields to Flagg, head North onto Flagg Lane, head North to Taddington Village, cross A6, head to Priestcliffe, cross fields to Long Lane, Highcliffe Farm, Limestone Way, cross A6, through Fivewells Farms and back to Chelmorton and the pub.

Route: From Tideswell Dale we head over the top to Miller’s Dale and then to Taddington, returning via the bridge at Litton Mill. Keywords: sunshine, Jelly Babies and lots of idle chatter.

Start Point Location: The meeting point is at the front of St. John the Baptist Church, Tideswell (postcode SK17 8LF). On street parking is available in the village of Tideswell
There is free parking on the roads nearby.
The climb after we cross the A6 is quite steep but short. All of the rest of
the ascent is fairly gentle, apart from the short section where we cross

Route: From Winster we drop down to Darley Bridge for a drink stop on the side of the Derwent. Then over the hill to Oaker and follow the river to Matlock. Then we take the Limestone Way above Matlock to get to Bonsall (tea shop, park, pub, yay!) for lunchies and tea. Two lumps please, you're the bees knees and so am I. Then back up onto the Limestone Way again to Winster and the rather lovely Old Bowling Green pub for a bit more "refreshment".

Start Point Location: Winster Free Car Park, Wensley Road, near the school (LHS on B5057 - before school as you enter Winster 30 mph zone from A6 direction).

The car park is next to Winster primary school on the way out of Winster towards Darley Dale. There is space for about 15 cars but there is also some on street parking a short distance away. You could also park in the car park opposite the Miners Standard Pub at the top of the village and walk down to the start point (about 10 minutes walk)

Route: The Goyt is it a little hidden secret just outside Buxton in summer the valley is bursting with rhododendron flowers that add a wonderful backdrop and the heavy scent as one climbs out of the valley and up onto Shining Tor. The walk from Shining Tor to Windgather Rocks give the walker the opportunity to really stretch the legs along a long moorland ridge something that is not too common in the Dark Peak. The forest walk back to Errwood reservoir is an unexpected delight, a feast of birdlife trees and fungus. What a wonderful walk to welcome the spring!

Start Point Location: Car park on the north west side of the reservoir. Driving from the east the car park is across the Dam and then on the right hand side of the road.

Route: From Hayfield we go down the Sett trail and then ascent Lantern Pike (steep in places!) Then various tracks to Charleswoth Road.Short road walk to Mill Hill path then to Mill Hill via crash site. Then down intermittent footpath to the shooting hut. Snake path back to Hayfield.

Notes: There are two separate ascents on this walk. The footpath to the hut is liabe to be boggy. It was in places when it was frozen! The crash is a USAF liberastor that crashed in 1944. NO DOGS.

Route: The walk begins at Fairholmes and then heads uphill to Rowlee Pasture with views over to the Kinder Scout plateau. From there we head over to the site of England’s largest landslip, Alport Castles, which gets its name from the imposing gritstone tower and surrounding jumble of boulders that formed after the last ice age. Then it’s a lovely amble over to Rowlee Bridge and Woodcock Coppice before we drop back down to Fairholmes. On the way, we’ll show you a couple of simple navigation techniques using a map and a compass that’ll help you to break free from the guidebooks.

Start Point Location: Fairholmes visitor centre, outside the toilets - car park (Pay & Display) If you arrive early enough, there is free parking at Derwent Overlook, this is on the right hand side just before Fairholmes or £5 for a full day at the visitor centre car park.

Route: Springtime in the UK and it's time to stay indoors watching pageantry on the TV with the curtains closed against the strong spring sunlight in case it fades the furniture. Not likely, I say! This is a similar walk to the one I put on for the Queen's Jubilee. Or her funeral. Or something. One of those anyway. And, because I have been crowned King of the Walks Programme and I'm inherently lazy, I'm starting it from near my house (the one with the Johnny Rotten bunting). I've changed it a bit to avoid overlapping with Bob's evening walk the week before.

Route: From the car park, we wander over to Moscar Lodge before shunning Stanedge and instead taking the lower route across Bamford Edge. Down the recently re-opened Clough Rd into Bamford. Then Bamford Mill, the old railway track and back via Heatherdene. Warning - this might be scenic.

Start Point Location: The lay-by on the A57 just above Cutthroat Bridge. It is on the left if travelling from Sheffield, as you descend the hill, approx. 1mile from Ladybower Reservoir. If you pass the Ladybower Inn on your right you've gone too far!
