Walk Name Shalesmoor to Heeley: inner-city Sheffield Walk
Description This walk is approx. a third of the Inner City Sheffield Walk devised by
distinguished Rambler, Terry Howard.
It will finish so we can seek refreshments in the Sheaf View, and then
folks can catch a bus or an Uber to wherever
The second third of the walk, Heeley to Attercliffe, will be on 1st
August, and the last third of the walk, Attercliffe to Shalesmoor, will be
on 8th August
This part of the Inner City Walk starts in Philadelphia and takes you up
through Crookesmoor and into Broomhill and then down through the
Botanic Gdns to Sharrow and Nether Edge and ending at Heeley.
It’s a circuit of the inner city, on pavements and paths, through parks &
ancient woodlands, past historical sites and sights, and by housing,
allotments & factories. There are some steps and stairs, and short
steep bits (both up and down) and the entire walk crosses the Don
(twice), and the Sheaf & Porter Brook.

tram to Infirmary Rd (trams take cards and cash). Please be
prompt.

Additional Information This walk is for people
● who want to get back into walking, or are starting out with
walking with a group, and want to build experience and
confidence, as well as being suitable for experienced walkers.
● You’re always near or crossing a bus or tram route back into
Sheffield on this walk. There's hardly ever more than a mile in
between bus/tram routes
● If you want to leave the walk and return to the city centre you
may, but you must let the walk leader know you’re leaving the
walk.
● If you don’t know the bus routes and stops then the walk leader
knows many of them and will have a bus app with them so you
can ask.
● Footwear should be suitable for walking on paths and
pavements. Please dress for the weather.
