Route: Starting from The Cross Scythes pub we head down the lane passing the old Totley campus and head for the Sheffield Country Way (SCW) path and head for Gillfield Wood. We then walk along the main road for a short section passing the old works then head up the hillside to the top of Totley Moor and have a short stop at the trig.
heading across the moor we pick up the SCW again and head for the Longshaw Estate, we'll call into the new visitor center (toilets). then it's a walk through the grounds and head for Burbage Edge, Burbage Moor and Houndkirk Road then head for Blacka Hill and make our way down into Totley.

Please park considerately. Parking on Baslow Road opposite the Cross Scythes pub or on Totley Hall Lane opposite the pub.

Route: Trains, walks, sights - proper day out. About 4hr walking in pastoral Barnsley and a couple of hours at the Hall (a fine museum (history, old stuff and fine ceramics and glassware), farm of TV fame, walled and formal gardens, landscaped grounds, cafes and cakes, its all free except the farm which has an entrance fee)
We start by catching the 10.02 am train to Leeds and get out at Darton at 10.35. Then we cross the Dearne and walk up through Kexborough to proceed over some farmland before we gently climb up to Cannon Hall. I guess we’ll get there by 12.30ish and take a break (and we can negotiate how long for). Then refreshed, entertained, and edified we’ll set off (no later than 2pm) through ascending undulating farmland to Silkstone and continue to Dodworth to catch the train back (I guess the 16.52) to Sheffield

Route: Plenty of ascents and descents on this walk around Loxley, Worrall and Oughtibridge.

If you wish wear your witch’s hat, spooky outfit or pumpkin deely boppers to get into the Halloween spirit.

We start with a steady uphill walk to Worrall before heading down to Beely wood and up towards the gothic buildings of the old Middlewood Hospital. More woodlands at Loxley as we pass the trig point before a downhill stretch to the Jack O Lantern Spectacular in Storrs wood where we may follow the pumpkin trail and view woodland sculptures. We may stop for a hot drink (bring some change). Then it’s a short walk 20-minute walk back to the start.
Varied terrain, woodland paths and fields with couple of decent climbs. If there has been recent rain consider bringing your gaiters

Nags Head for drinks (and food? see info) at the end of the walk.
