A short steep ascent from Eyam Village passing a Plague Stone and a short
steep ascent out of Cressbrook Dale heading for Wardlow everything else is
flat, down hill or undulating. Nothing challenging so suitable for anyone new to
the group.

Start Point Location: Eyam Parish 'Free' car park on Hawkhill Road .Car Park: Follow the blue P car park signs to Eyam Parish 'Free' car park on Hawkhill Road just up the hill on right after the Pay and Display car park and toilets on right and the museum on left. Please note the back road sometimes used as a short-cut from Grindleford to Eyam (B6521 New Road) is permanently closed owing to subsidence so plan your journey accordingly (eg via Calver Sough). Donation box by the gate.

Route: Tideswell Rake and Dales. Tideswell to Litton, tansley dale, Silly dale, Great Hucklow, Tideswell rake
A varied walk through fields and dales, some lane walking. Lovely views on the rake if the weather is good. The climb after we cross the A6 is quite steep but short. The rest of the ascent is not difficult with a climb up the rake, apart from the short section where we cross High Dale. The rake should have a few wild flowers.

Time to look around the festival at the end of the walk and go for a drink. I am hoping to get back by 2.30 to 3.00pm as people wish do some browsing.

A beautiful, spring walk through the ancient woodlands of the upper Moss Valley. There are some short but steep ascents through the woods. It could be muddy in places.

Route: Winster, Rowsley, Stanton Moor Trig and back to Winster.

Start Point Location: Winster Free Car Park, Wensley Road, near the school (LHS on B5057 - before school as you enter Winster 30 mph zone from A6 direction).

The car park is next to Winster primary school on the way out of Winster towards Darley Dale. There is space for about 15 cars but there is also some on street parking a short distance away. You could also park in the car park opposite the Miners Standard Pub at the top of the village and walk down to the start point (about 10 minutes walk)

Route: This linear walk starts in Endcliffe Vale where Ethel Haythornthwaite and JG Graves lived before we walk up the Porter, over Houndkirk Moor, across Blacka Moor down into Totley for refreshers in the Cross Scythes.
This walk is mainly on Sheffield land that Ethel Haythornthwaite loved and protected, and JG Graves loved and bought to ensure ordinary folks can do this walk over 90 years later. Mick has lots of info about their work and gifts to our walking and our countryside. And Blacka Moor is a delight. 10 miles of deep joy.

Route: From Hayfield we walk along Kinder reservoir before heading up a steep grassy path to the top of Kinder Scout. Onto Sandy Hays (off path) with its double trig then Kinder downfall and Kinder low trig, Edale cross and a steady walk across the fields before arriving back to the start.
Drinks in the Sportsman Pub at the end.

If you haven’t been on Kinder Scout and would like to, come along on the walk. It’s a steep climb up but once onto top it levels out, the route back down is across fields and tracks.

I will be taking the train, which stops at Bempton and returns from Filey.
There is a direct train from Sheffield on Saturday 19th July at 08:56, calling at
Meadowhall (09:02), arriving at Bempton at 11:09. There is free parking at Meadowhall Travel Interchange.
You could drive and park at Bempton or Filey and possibly share the ride. It is about 2 hours from the eastern side of Sheffield (M1) to Filey.
It is a short walk (2 miles) from Bempton to Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) using a footpath from the village to the cliffs to avoid the main entrance. There will be Gannets, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Razorbills and Puffins. The seabirds will be nesting and there should be fledglings. We will spend an hour or two at Bempton Cliffs and have lunch there. There is a cafe doing snacks and sandwiches if you don’t wish to take a packed lunch. After lunch the walk continues along the cliff top coastal path (3 miles) and then drops down to the beach at Speeton Cliffs and continues along the beach (4 miles) to Filey. The tide will be going out for the walk back and Low tide is at 17:56. There are cafe
and toilets at Hunmanby Gap. There is plenty of choice for refreshments / Fish and Chips in Filey before the train home. There are direct rains back to Sheffield every hour (e.g. 17:17, 18:16, 19:19 - the return journey is about 2 Hours 20 min).
This walk is not suitable for dogs.

It is about 2 hours from the eastern side of Sheffield (M1) to Filey via the M18, M62, A614. There are roadworks on the viaduct near Howden. Be aware of speed cameras at Howden and various points onwards.
