Route: Station to station over the foothills of the Pennines.
We start at Chinley at 10.00 a.m. The walk starts with a steady long, steep at first, climb from Chinley to peak at Brown Knoll before starting a steady descent via Edale Cross and Jacob's Ladder to Edale.
If you’ve parked at Chinley then catch the train back from Edale (the 16.47 arrives back in Chinley at 16.54 and trains are hourly). If you came out on the 9.14 train from Sheffield then the trains back are at 30 minutes past the hour.

If you’re travelling to the start by train then buy an off peak return to Chinley. We get on at Edale for return trips.

NB a return is guaranteed but not a specific return time, e.g. depends on the speed of the walk and us walkers, incidents may occur, the group decides to hang out sheep watching etc

Route: From Ringinglow to Stanage Pole, Dennis Knoll, Brontë Cottage, Hathersage, Carl Wark, Houndkirk Road to Ringinglow.

It will be wet/muddy under foot.

Starting from The Cross Scythes pub we head down the lane
passing the old Totley campus and head for the Sheffield
Country Way (SCW) path and head for Gillfield Wood. We then
walk along the main road for a short section passing the old
works then head up the hillside to the top of Totley Moor and
have a short stop at the trig.
heading across the moor we pick up the SCW again and head
for the Longshaw Estate, we'll call into the new visitor center
(toilets). then it's a walk through the grounds and head for
Burbage Edge, Burbage Moor and Houndkirk Road then head
for Blacka Hill and make our way down into Totley.

Start Point Location: Totley, Outside The Cross Scythes Public House, Baslow Road .
Please park considerately. Parking on Baslow Road opposite the Cross Scythes pub or on Totley Hall Lane opposite the pub.

Route: From Old Glossop we follow path to near Cock Hill. We then work our way across to the Pennine Way via Torside Castle. It can be extremely muddy (another Burmah road!!). We then go to Bleaklow Head and across to Hern Clough. We leave the Pennine Way and go to Higher Shelf stones. From there to Lower Shelf stones and then down via Shelf Benches to start.

Start Point Location: Entering Glossop from the Snake Pass, take a right turn into Manor Park Road (by the Commercial Inn, before the mini-roundabout) then follow the road round to the right into Shepley Street (by The Queens). We are meeting at the Bus turning circle at the end of Shepley Street.

Route: Bakewell, Sheldon, Great Shacklow Wood, Monsal Dale, Monsal Head, Little Longstone, Great Longstone and back to Bakewell.

Start Point Location: The Bridge Car Park, Coombs Road, Bakewell. From the A619 turn into Station Road just before the Bridge then right into Coombs Road., the car park is on the right hand side.

Car park is pay and display. Free car parking on Coombs road lower down but can be muddy, also free parking on Station Road

Notes:

Route: Shining Tor walk is one of those must-do hikes in the Peak District. It’s the highest peak in the Cheshire Peak District and has beautiful views towards its neighbour Shutlingsloe, which is known as the ‘Matterhorn of Cheshire’ due to its iconic shape.

Derbyshire Bridge free Car Park at the south end of Goyt Valley. The Car Park is about four miles west of Buxton, just down a lane from the A537 Buxton to Macclesfield Road, about half a mile from the Cat and Fiddle Inn .

Notes: This walk has a mix of terrains but also through the valley and woodlands, you’ll notice it’s warmer, whereas the section from Cats Tor to Shining Tor can be exposed and cold. Take some extra layers to put on!
